Small Talk: Baby Sign Language

Baby Sign Language offers parents the opportunity to communicate with children long before they can verbalize their wants and needs. Research studies show that signing with babies accelerates language acquisition, reduces frustration, and as children mature, results in a greater interest in reading. Of the many positive benefits of baby sign language, the most important is that signing will greatly deepen the bond between you and your child. This class will introduce basic baby signs that are based on American Sign Language (ASL) and is designed for expectant parents, parents, grandparents and caregivers with hearing babies who range in age from birth to 18 months.  You will learn useful tips on how to teach babies to sign, how to integrate these signs into your everyday routines and jump-start your child’s verbal skills.
