Board Painting Class with Shelia!

Date:  Saturday, February 9, 2019

Time: 1:00-4:00pm

Location: Barnum Elementary School Youth Center/ Bomber Club

Cost: $35.00 (check for $30 made out to Shelia Fetters, check for $5 made out to ISD 91)

Deadline:  January 25, 2019

Register at Barnum Community Education. or 218-389-01018.  *Please contact Shelia to request a board, stain color, and quote.   She has the standard 18×11 solid boards and 24×6 boards. 6 different stains and unlimited designs.  Email her at or call/text her at 218-391-7698.

Minimum of 10 participants.

Pictures are some examples, you can request just about anything and she can design it for you.



Moose Lake Community Ed offers: Dot Mandala Class

You don’t need special skills or even painting experience to achieve great results. Instructor, Leann Oman, will show you many tips and tricks so you’ll get the hang of it in no time! Mandala painting is the art of using dots to create intricate geometric compositions.  The base is a circle, knows as the mandala.  You are sure to enjoy this class and bring home patterns.

When: March 19

Time:  6:30-9:00 p.m.

Where: Moose Lake Community Ed Room

Cost: $30, includes class materials, with patterns to take home to make more mandalas!  P.S. They will have coffee & cookies too!

Guitar Lessons

Spencer Walton, our Elementary Music teacher, will be offering guitar lessons in half an hour time slots on Mondays and Tuesdays starting February 4th!  He has a guitar available to use or bring your own.  Lessons will be $18/session starting February 4-June 4, a total of 18 weeks.  List your preference and Spencer will contact you with your scheduled time.

When:  Mondays and Tuesdays

Time:  3:30-5:30p in half an hour sessions

Where: Elementary Music room

Cost: $18/session (up to $324)

Ages:  7 and up

*Please note, children cannot be unattended in the school.  If they need to stay afterschool before or after their lessons, please make arrangements with Bomber Club.  251-1501 or 




Women’s Strength & Weight Training 101

If you have ever walked into a gym and glanced at the weights but have felt overwhelmed, intimidated, and thought they were only used by men, so you went back to your cardio machine, then this class is for you!  Be intimidated no more!  This class is for women, taught by a woman!  This is a basic introductory class to weightlifting and strength training.  Don’t worry about getting bulky, this class will show you how to build long, lean muscles.  And you will learn how to burn fat, even at rest!

When: January 7– 30 Mons and Weds

Time:  5:30-6:30 p.m.

Where: Barnum High School Fitness Center.

This class will be held for 4 weeks, running from January 7-January 30.


AARP Refresher Class

The AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s largest classroom and online driver safety course and is designed especially for drivers age 50 and older. Learn proven safety strategies and how you could save money on your car insurance.

Age to Age Reading Across the Ages needs Volunteers!

We are looking for volunteers to read with Preschoolers, 6th graders, and our afterschool programs. If you are interested or want to hear more about this new reading program, please attend this informational luncheon!

County Seat Theater “Mynx and Savage”

Mynx and Savage is a tri-level story of a comic book writer, the characters of his superhero story and the creatures of his “serious” work.  When corporate powers start pushing him to produce, he is torn between the comfort of fantasy and the necessary truth.

Total Money Makeover

Are you ready for a Total Money Makeover? Traveling to Alaska is Easier Than You Think

Alan Finifrock will share his many years of Alaskan living, traveling to, from and within Alaska to help you create a plan for the trip you have been dreaming about.

Topics will include: When and how to travel; best times to plan your trip; airline reservations; Alaska Highway “ALCAN” travel; food-lodging-travel options and costs; free and inexpensive activities; hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing; websites to visit; brochures; developing a budget.

He will also highlight three areas that are of interest for those who have limited time to travel.The insights presented will help you plan and travel wisely.

County Seat Theater “The Great Nursing Home Escape” Pizza & a Play with Your Favorite Person! 

From a locked-down nursing home in the dead of the night, they attempt the greatest escape ever. Join this misfit band of “inmates” as they hatch a master plan to escape their dreary nursing home and find something far more important than a baseball game-they find their youth.
