County Seat Theater “The Great Nursing Home Escape”

Pizza & a Play with Your Favorite Person! 

From a locked-down nursing home in the dead of the night, they attempt the greatest escape ever. Join this misfit band of “inmates” as they hatch a master plan to escape their dreary nursing home and find something far more important than a baseball game-they find their youth.

When: Sat, Feb 16

Cost: $40/couple

(must include an adult and a student)

Where: 5:00p Barnum Youth Center for Poor Gary’s Pizza and root beer floats before heading to the play on a school bus.

*Space limited to 10 inter-generational couples, 20 total.  Your seat is not saved until payment has been made.

“Strings n’ Things

Come make some awesome String Art with Julie DeMeyer from Superior!  There will be 4 choices to chose from.  Photos will be available on the website.  All supplies and materials are provided.  She also has Take & Make kits for an additional cost!

Drivers Education

When:  Mon  –  Fri; Jan 7—11, 14-18

Time:  3:45-6:50p

Where:  Barnum High School, Rm A-1

Students can be 14 to take the class. If the class is full, 14-year-olds may be bumped to allow a 15-year-old in.  Class size is limited to 30 students.

Gun Safety Field Day

The firearms safety online class consists of a minimum of 12 hours of classroom learning on the safe handling of firearms, hunter responsibility and wildlife conservation. Students then complete the field experience.

CABS Babysitting

Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) / American Safety & Health Institute (www.hsi.com) Learn the responsibilities of being a prepared, safe, responsible and professional babysitter. Topics include starting your own babysitting business, child development, behavior guidance, supervision, proper feeding & diapering techniques, personal safety, medical emergencies, basic first aid care, and fire safety. Students receive a Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) book and will demonstrate the required knowledge and skill objectives for the ASHI approved Child and Babysitting Safety certification card. The instructor provides baby dolls, bottles, diaper supplies for skills participation. The course is developed by the American Safety and Health Institute and approved by the American Pediatrics Association. Students attend this class independently. Parents are encouraged to review the take-home information and discuss it with their child.

Home Alone

Just mention the words “Home Alone,” and children think of the excitement depicted in the movies of the same name. The reality of being home alone can evoke fear and anxiety in many children. Whether left alone for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, children should feel comfortable being alone. This workshop for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone” including personal safety tips, tricky people, basic first aid, fire safety, handling the unexpected, internet safety, gun safety, dealing with loneliness and boredom, storm safety, dealing with siblings as well as trust and honesty.

Be Prepared, Not Scared 

Young children who are taught basic emergency concepts like how to call 911 can turn into Heroes in emergency situations. One of the most important things for them to know are basic first aid steps to follow in different circumstances. Class topics include recognizing an emergency and knowing what to do, calling 911, basic first aid techniques, personal safety tips, tricky people, gun safety and fire safety. Students attend this class independently. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.

Mother Son Bowling & Pizza Date Night

Boys and the important female in their life will be bused to Skyline Bowling in Duluth on Saturday, March 16th from 5:00-9:00p to enjoy pizza, pop and bowling!  Cost will be $35/couple, $10/additional child.
