7th Grade Orientation

7th Grade Orientation Information

Welcome! This year, Barnum High School is starting a mentorship program to welcome all of our incoming 7th graders. This is a year-long program that focuses on helping students develop their life-management skills, study skills and interpersonal skills. Students will be working on these skills in small groups led by two trained Bomb Squad leaders that are made up of 10th and 11th graders.

Bomb Squad kicks off the school year with a fun-filled and educational orientation day on Monday, August 27, from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. that welcomes your 7th grader into Barnum High School with a sense of safety in a high spirited, all inclusive, and anti-bullying environment. This is only for 7th grade students.

Orientation includes:

  • Spirited and interactive opening assembly led by our adult Coordinator.

  • Mentor group experience led by trained Bomb Squad Leaders.

  • School tours led by trained Bomb Squad leaders.

  • A thoughtful, inspiring closing assembly led by our adult Coordinator.

Students are more than welcome to bring a bag lunch or snacks and a water bottle. Transportation to and from school and lunch will not be provided.

Also, there will be our traditional 7th grade orientation for parents and students that will be held on Wednesday, August 29, at 6:00 p.m. during Open House.
