Barnum Public Schools will have four open school board seats in the upcoming election.
Filing of Affidavits of Candidacy – July 30 – August 13, 2024
Filing for all school board seats shall be at the Offices of the School Clerk located at Barnum Elementary School, 3813 E North St., Barnum, MN 55707, from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Mondays – Thursdays, and from 7:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays from July 30 – August 12, 2024, and from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
How to File:
- Go to the State of MN’s Election Administration & Campaigns website page and read through the Campaign Filing Packet.
- Complete an Affidavit of Candidacy form.
- Come in to the school’s District Office, currently located in the elementary school at 3813 E North St, Barnum, MN 55707, to drop off your Affidavit of Candidacy.
- Bring $2 to pay the required filing fee. Bring either a check made out to ISD 91 or the exact amount of cash, as we do not have change.
- You can file Mondays-Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. July 30 – August 12, 2024, and from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
- Complete a Campaign Financial Report Certification of Filing at the end of your campaign and turn in to the District Office.
To qualify for election you must:
- be eligible to vote in Minnesota
- have not filed for another office at the upcoming primary or general election
- be 21 years of age or more upon assuming office
- have maintained residence in our district for at least 30 days before the general election
- have not been convicted of an offense for which you are required to register as a predatory offender under Minnesota Statutes 243.166
School board members are elected to 4-year terms and take office the first Monday in January (M.S. 123B.09, Subd. 1).
