Leadership

Junior Barnum Community Club

High school student members perform acts of service within our local community, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. We do our best to give back to the community and help other people.

National Honor Society (NHS)

To be eligible for membership in the John O. Calverley Chapter of the Barnum High School National Honor Society you need a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. This is determined at the end of first semester of your sophomore year. Membership is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. Besides a 3.5 GPA, inductees must also excel in scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Once inducted students volunteer hours of service to their school and community. They also facilitate a leadership project of their choosing. Previous projects include: raising money for cancer, food drive, Pennies for Patients, cell phones for soldiers, free childcare during conferences, and hosting Holiday Ball. As a group we host 2 annual blood drives, one in the fall and one in the early spring.

Student Council

Student council helps share student ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and administrators. At Barnum, our student council helps raise funds for school-wide activities like homecoming and snow week. We also support projects which aim to strengthen our community.
